Our commitments for the environment :

Our policy in favour of public transport

To limit the impact of journeys within the resort, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc provides financial support for the « tram-train » policy and is committed to visitors using the Chamonix Valley’s public transport through the information provided by its cashiers and its products. To this end ,it finances a large portion of the intra-resort bus network. It also lays on a daily pick up service for its employees.

Reducing our greenhouse gas emissions

With a view to regulating its energy consumption, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc is undertaking the renovation of its property portfolio and moving towards lower energy consumption. These investments run alongside environmental and energy saving training and awareness campaigns for the staff.

For a management system that respects the environment

The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc aims to limit the impact of its discharged waste materials. Accordingly, it has set up a system for sorting and large scale recycling in all its ski areas and
installations. Furthermore, to avoid wasting paper, the company uses rechargeable or recyclable passes and prints its brochures on eco-label paper with organic ink based on vegetable oils.

Operations to conserve the flora and faun

To raise awareness amongst its visitors of the impact of their waste on the environment, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc and its associates have set up specific actions such as the distribution of pocket ashtrays at the bottom of the ski lifts. Additionally, to prevent damage to the alpine flora and fauna, it informs its clients through its brochures and directly in its ski areas, via its information boards, of the existence of hibernation areas and nature reserves to be preserved.

Alterations carried out with a light touch

In order not to adulterate the Chamonix Valley, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc is dismantling its old lifts and cleaning up its old waste material (particularly that which has been displaced
by the glaciers). And to limit the impact of its earthworks, it is re-grassing part of its pistes with a seed mix specially blended for the Chamonix Valley. It should also be noted that this year the company’s employees are going to experiment with dry toilets, the composted waste from which will be used in the summer reseeding of grass.

For « clean » artificial snow

The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc produces artificial snow without additives thanks to « low pressure » snow makers. They do not pump water from the water table and during the spring thaw they put water back into the ground, they do not change slope and thus do not create any environmental problems.

Climate change involves us all!

The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc would like to make its visitors aware of and inform them about the consequences of global warming by means of screening films at the installations and by inserts in its brochures to get them involved in preserving our environment.

The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc is certified ISO 14001
