With your family, alone or with friends, access to the summit of the Aiguille du Midi is easily planned. The ascent is not dangerous (except for people advised to avoid altitude and children under 2 years of age). Visitors can safely enjoy this extraordinary journey to the heart of the Mont-Blanc massif. Prepare your visit Refer to the information – weather, visibility, temperature, timetables – on the displays outside the departure station. The excursion is not recommended for children under 2 years old. You are requested to leave pets at the bottom. Even in summer, the temperature at the summit often drops to -10°C. Make sure that you have sturdy footwear and warm clothing. Sunglasses and sun cream are recommended. Do not forget that you are in the high mountains. Do not venture away from the terraces.

For early risers, between 7 and 8 in summer is the best time to come and see daybreak on the summits and to enjoy in peace the beautiful light … Note: on busy days, you will be given a numbered boarding card on the footbridge for the Helbronner connection. Always have your ticket on you. It will be checked at every stage of your excursion. On busy days, at your departure from Chamonix you will be given a boarding card specifying your return cabin number, which you will be required to produce. Remember the departure time given by the cashier and be there 10 minutes beforehand. The return cabin numbers are displayed on the board in front of the station.

Recommendations for your visit On arriving, cross the footbridge towards the Mont-Blanc lift and terrace. You will be able to visit the Piton Nord on the way back before taking the cable-car to go back down. Do the Helbronner return trip (Mont-Blanc panoramic cable-car), before visiting the Aiguille du Midi. Tickets can be purchased at the cash desk near the footbridge. To get back to the cable-car again, follow the green "Chamonix" panels which bring you back onto the Piton Nord.
