A listed hotel in a very special location... Perched up at 1913 m in the Mont-Blanc range, with a view that plunges down over the Mer de Glace and the legendary Aiguilles des Drus, the Grand Hotel du Montenvers is a place that is alive with history and authenticity. Built in 1880 to accommodate the first mountaineers and travellers who had come to see the Mer de Glace, the Grand Hotel presents a sober granite façade pierced with lots of little windows. It’s the interior that reveals its true soul and its history, impregnated with the extraordinary epics of the late 19th century writers, mountaineers and adventurers who are behind the legend. In the evening, once the last train and the last visitors have left, the place turns itself over to you amidst the evening colours and a surprisingly calm and tranquil atmosphere. It’s as though you’re alone in the world facing this unique view! ..which has been able to hold onto its authenticity As you turn your attention to the building, you will discover the large fully panelled dining room, which has lost none of its cachet. Spread over the first floor, 9 panelled bedrooms await you with their old-style taps and beds made up with coverlets made from Bonneval cloth. You can also look round the little museum which houses a model railway collection and a collection of pictures of the era tracing the history of the Grand Hotel. Climb a few more steps and you reach the big dormitory laid out in the eaves where, surrounded by the charm of its massive beams, you will find that atmosphere so typical of mountain refuges. Whether you choose to stay in an individual room or in the dormitory, the simplicity and the friendly welcome will leave you with lasting memories in a special setting that will bring you peace and quiet.		With its cosily rustic charm, the hotel combines the true spirit of a traditional high mountain refuge with the services of a restaurant for the bon viveur.
