Which lifts can you book?

Among our excursion sites, two have reservation services :

• Aiguille du Midi cable-car – 3777 m (reservation open in July and August only)
• Tramway du Mont-Blanc - 2380 m (reservation open from July 6th to August 29th, 2010 )

Please note :

• Whenever you make a reservation, you book for a place on a train or cabin for a number of persons at a precise time
• this reservation is entirely distinct from your ticket : when arriving on the site, your have access to a priority ticket office (the "reservation desk")
• At the reservation desk you buy the ticket that suits you best (one-way, return, Mont-Blanc Multipass etc)
• So, it is possible (and advised) to book you places (in advance) prior to buying your tickets (on the spot)

How does it work?

Aiguille du Midi

We strongly advise you to make a reservation if you are planning to use the cable-car in peak periods : notably July and August.

You may book :
 

• on-line, on this web site.. When using the reservation service for the first time, we ask you for a quick identification. You then choose the time that suits you best amongst those available and indicate the number of persons (5 persons maximum per reservation) as well as your name.
  On the day of travel, make sure you are present at the "reservations" ticket desk, 20 minutes before your departure. Just give your name and the booked departure time at the desk to retrieve your boarding pass.
• on the phone with our call center, dialing 04 50 53 22 75 (then press  4). Make sure you have a pen and a piece of paper to write down the time of reservation given by the hostess!
• in Chamonix, at any of our ticket desks, as well as at the information point located inside the Aiguille du Midi cable-car station.

Notes:

• Reservation open 7 days in advance, until 24 hours before travel. It is not possible to book for the current day.
• Reservation fee: 2 €/pers  (free if you have a Mont-Blanc Multipass or a Mont-Blanc Unlimited lift pass )
• Out of the total number of places in the cable-car to go to the top of Aiguille du Midi, only a third is available in the reservation quota. Should the time you wish to book not be available, or if the system tells you that the reservation is full, it is  still possible to queue at the ticket desk on the day of your visit. However, it is hard to know in advance how long the waiting line will be (usually a minimm of 20 minutes, up to an hour and a half on peak days)
• When you make a reservation, you book your ascent (Chamonix- Aiguille du Midi). For the descent, you will be given a  cabin number upon arrival at the top  (peak days only, usually July and August)
  

Tramway du Mont-Blanc

We strongly advise you to make a reservation if you are planning to use the tramway in peak periods : July and August.

You may book :

• on the phone with our call center, dialing 04 50 53 22 75 (then press  4). Make sure you have a pen and a piece of paper to write down the 13-digit reservation number given by the hostess!
• in the Chamonix valley, at the Tramway du Mont-Blanc ticket desks (or any other Compagnie du Mont-Blanc ticket office)  as well as at the information point located at the foot of the Aiguille du Midi cable-car
• It is not possible to book on-line on the internet

Notes:

• Reservation open 7 days in advance, until 24 hours before travel. It is not possible to book for the current day.
• reservation free of charge
• Out of  the 180 places in each train,  only a third is available in the reservation quota. All other places are sold the current day, directly at Le Fayet and Saint-Gervais ticket desks
• You can use your reservation at the Fayet ticket desk only (not valid at Saint-Gervais)
• If you are already in possession of a Mont-Blanc Multipass, you have to pick up a boarding pass at the cash desk before taking the train
• Beware: on peak days, for any departure on the  2 pm train and all following trains (leaving from le Fayet), expect to have a programmed return on one of the last two trains (5:50 pm or 6:55pm)
